September’s Rockin’ Roundup
The Autumn term has begun with exciting news: each week, Webster Primary School and St Mary’s Primary School in Moss Side, Manchester will have a weekly visit of funded music sessions, thanks to Rising Tide AI. A professional musician will engage with entire classes, small groups, and individual students. We're quickly getting instruments into the children's hands and helping them express their voices throughout the school!
The news of the Oasis reunion has helped provide the inspiration to these students song choice.
A word from Siobhan:
At Webster Primary, Siobhan has been working with small groups of singers alongside their music class. A standout moment has been the Year 5 boy band, who are focusing on "Wonderwall" and creating their own backing vocals. The boys are thrilled to have this singing chance. The Year 6 rock band has improved in their intonation and timing, while Year 3 is learning to use dynamics to improve their performance.
At St. Mary’s, we have been helping small groups of singers prepare for their class performances. We've focused on "Ghostbusters," learning how to add drama and suspense while keeping good style and technique. We are also working on vocal layering and harmonies to create an energetic and challenging performance of Bobby McFerrin’s “Don’t Worry Be Happy.”
I have found several promising individuals in both schools whom I will start working with one-on-one soon.
These sessions are thanks to Rising Tide AI and their generous funding for the 2024/25 academic year.
