February 2025 - Rockin’ Roundup
🎸 Music Evermore February Rockin' Roundup! 🎶
Another month, another jam-packed schedule of music-making, creativity, and incredible progress! 🎤🎵 February has been all about pushing boundaries, preparing for performances, and welcoming new opportunities for our young musicians. A HUGE THANK YOU to our amazing funders—Manchester City Council's Neighbourhood Investment Fund, The Wythenshawe Forum Library Creative Space, Heist or Hit, Rising Tide AI, the Manchester Airport Community Trust Fund, and the wonderful public donors—who make all of this possible.
Here’s what’s been going on across our funded sessions this month…
🎶 Wythenshawe Forum Creative Space
Our Wythenshawe Forum groups are full steam ahead in preparation for a massive performance at the Brighter Sounds live night on 22nd March! This event will showcase talent from across Manchester, especially Wythenshawe, and our groups are ready to make a serious impact with their songs.
💥 New Collaboration Alert! We’re buzzing to be teaming up with Media Cubs, a brilliant local media training company. They’ll be working with our young musicians on video making, interviews, showreels, and more—helping to shape the next generation of media-savvy rock stars!
🎸 Monday 4PM – This group is building a solid catalogue of songs and gearing up for the performance. With a few final touches, they'll be ready to hit the stage!
🎸 Monday 5PM – The new additions are making huge progress, and their version of What I’ve Done by Linkin Park is nearly stage-ready!
🎸 Tuesday 4PM – The group is working on advanced techniques like bass pedalling and guitar palm muting, while the vocalist is developing strength and range with each session.
🎸 Tuesday 5PM – Big improvements in timing and ear training! After a bit of a shake-up, they’re now working towards performing Call Me Maybe—bringing some serious energy to the setlist!
🎸 BIG NEWS! We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve been awarded £1,640 by the Manchester Airport Community Trust Fund to purchase brand-new electric guitars and equipment for our ever growing Wythenshawe sessions which are now almost at capacity! 🎉 Huge thanks to Manchester City Council and @manairportuk for helping us take our music-making to the next level! 🎸🎶
🎤 Peel Hall Primary School
It’s been a month of fantastic development at Peel Hall! Every class is making huge strides, with students coming in full of energy and ready to learn.
✅ Year 2 and up are now starting to perform in groups, while Year 3+ are bringing instruments into the mix. We’re hoping to put together two songs per year group for a big end-of-year performance for parents!
🎸 1-2-1 Sessions are fully booked! Students from all year groups are learning guitar and keys and making rapid progress.
🎤 Rock Band & Choir are now officially launched! These will alternate on Monday afternoons and kick into full swing after half-term—with performances planned for summer.
We received this lovely feedback from a parent which makes everything so worthwhile!
My son in Year 4 loves the introduction of music with Harry at Peel Hall Primary Academy and now has a guitar at home. Since trying guitar with Harry, he's really keen to practice at home and show me and his dad what he's been doing in school. The new music room and Harry the Music Evermore tutor have been one of the best introductions at Peel Hall and we can't wait for the end of term performances. It has made such a difference to my child.
A huge thank you to Heist or Hit for making this happen! 🎵
🎼 Claremont Primary School
Claremont has been on fire this month! 🔥
🎸 Year 3 & 6 band groups are growing in confidence and nailing their first songs. We’re on the verge of switching to electric instruments and a full drum kit—exciting times ahead!
🎤 The nurture group has been thriving—embracing guitar and vocal sessions and jamming on ukulele, xylophone, and the doumbek drum. They’ve been loving songs like Listen to Your Friends, Let’s Play the Drum, and the Hello and Goodbye songs.
🎶 Thank you again to Heist or Hit for funding these sessions and giving these young musicians the opportunity to thrive!
🎵 Webster Primary School
🎤 February Showcase Success! Over 100 children performing together on a spectacular performance, featuring:
🎸 Pink Floyd’s Another Brick in the Wall
🎶 Year 2 & 4 singers performing Keane’s Somewhere Only We Know
The audience loved it, and we couldn’t be prouder!
🎶 Massive congratulations to one of our Year 6 students who achieved a DISTINCTION in their RSL debut exam!
Now, we’re full speed ahead into Easter showcase prep, where we’re bringing a 90s theme to the stage:
Year 5 cohort – I Want It That Way (Backstreet Boys)
Year 3 cohort – Sit Down (James)
A massive thank you to Rising Tide AI for funding these sessions and keeping the music alive! 🎶
🎸 St Mary's Primary School
This month has been all about fine-tuning and adding some extra flair to our performances!
🎤 Sunflower (Post Malone) – We’ve added breakdowns, dynamic shifts, and instrumental layering to make it sound even more polished. The students are working as a tight band, showing fantastic awareness of rhythm and timing.
🎸 Another One Bites the Dust (Queen) – We started with just a couple of sections, but the students stepped up—now they’re performing the full song, switching between sections seamlessly!
These young musicians are developing their focus, memory, and musical skills at an amazing pace. A massive thank you to Rising Tide AI for making these sessions possible!
🎶 Funded Band Sessions in Stretford
Thanks to the generosity of the public, our ambassador John Thomson, and a donation from the Sale & Altrincham Good Afternooners Women’s Institute, we’ve been able to offer FOUR MORE FUNDED SPACES at our Saturday band sessions!
🔥 These groups have hit the ground running, with some exciting new material in the works:
🎸 Group 1 – Learning Lucky Man (The Verve) and even starting their first original song!
🎸 Group 2 – Mastering Riot Van (Arctic Monkeys) and continuing their work on Come Together (The Beatles).
Even with some lineup changes, the enthusiasm and focus have been unbelievable. With a mix of dedicated tuition and group jamming, these young musicians are growing fast—and we can’t wait to see where their talent takes them!
🎶 What a Month! On to March...
